Professor Sun Jianwei obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2008 and conducted postdoctoral research in Professor Gregory C. Fu's group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2008 to 2010. He has been with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 2010. In 2021, he was awarded Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). His current research primarily focuses on organic synthesis methodology, where he conducts systematic and in-depth studies in areas such as asymmetric catalysis of organic small molecules and Lewis acid catalysis. He also explores new strategies to address long-standing challenging problems in organic synthesis from fresh perspectives, proposing unique solutions. He has published over 200 articles, with an h-index of 55. He has received numerous academic honors, including being elected as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Young Scientists, the Hong Kong Outstanding Young Scholar Award, the Asian Core Program Lectureship Award, and the Thieme Chemistry Journal Award, among others.
